Black Cat Blues |
| Description: | A thirteen bar blues for a male vocalist, with lyrics by Daniel Eng, this piece starts with a hesitating intro by the saxes, backed up by muted brass. After the intro the vocalist takes on three verses, subsequently handing over to two soloist choruses. After the solo comes a quite demanding shout chorus, where the trumpets stretch high and the saxes answer loudly. The shout part eventually quiets down, handing over to a vocal tag where the vocalist sums up the lyrics and the song, whereafter the piece ends with both a regular and a mock blues standard phrase. Notated key Ab (blues). |
