Moving alongside spring

When the spring months at long last arrive, the activity regarding most things, and especially in music, seems to burst like budding plants. The transition from the often quite slow months January and February can sometimes be surprisingly swift and unannounced. Then, after the realiziation of the situation has dawned on me, the new pace of events gets familiar and I get accustomed to the increasing tempo that usually lasts until the vacation months set in around mid June. Right now I am in full pace performing, conducting (like the EMP Wind Orchestra in the picture), rehearsing, composing and producing music in many forms, situations and constellations, and in the midst of all that, I have also managed to do my private and my business tax audit for last year. Phew!
One thing that has been somewhat set aside because of all my assignments, is the composing work on the last planned number of the “Yokai” concert program, the song “Gathering Cress By the Waterside” – though I somehow have managed to slowly, here and there, push the work almost to completion; only a few bars remain. The song is a 5/4 meter funk for a male vocalist, with a modal progression and some meter changes along the way and it will be published here – hopefully in mid May – when fully edited.
I wish all of you visiting here a really nice and happy ending of April and beginning of May!
